The Bandera ISD Education Foundation is a volunteer, non-profit corporation, which solicits, manages, and disburses contributions to enrich and enhance educational opportunities for staff and students in Bandera ISD that fall outside the scope of the district’s normal operating budget.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
Lead Donor Breakfast 2022
On Thursday, September 8th, the Bandera ISD Education Foundation hosted it’s annual Lead Donor Breakfast at the Mayan Ranch to recognize and thank the top donors for the year. Every summer, a letter drive is held to raise funds for the foundation to award to teachers and staff at all four schools in the form of grpants. So far this year, the letter drive has brought in about $20,000, and the Education Foundation is hopeful that more donations will come in through the end of the year.
Once breakfast was served, President Alyssa Cothran gave a welcome and background of the Foundation, thanking the donors who were present. Laura Klein, standing in for Superintendent Gary Bitzkie, gave remarks about the district and her experience with the foundation, and then Alkek Elementary’s librarian, Lisa Gherman, presented a grant that she was awarded last year. The Inchworm Book Vending Machine was presented to Alkek last year and serves as a reward incentive for all students attending Alkek to be recognized for various achievements in front of their peers and choose a book from the vending machine to take home and keep.
Finally, all donors were recognized for their generosity and continued support of the foundation. Many of the donors have given for multiple years and were thanked for all they do. Several have been part of this tradition since before the non-profit status was even in place over 15 years ago, and without them, the foundation wouldn’t be where it is today.
